Market competition has also become more intense, making product quality, performance and technical specifications key factors in determining competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Industries such as coal mining, petroleum, chemicals and steel involve flammable and explosive materials and operate in high-risk environments. These industries also require a high level of automated control. Selecting the correct explosion-proof motor is therefore essential for ensuring stable and reliable equipment operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because motors often operate continuously for extended periods, faults and abnormalities may occur. Regular inspection and maintenance of explosion-proof motors are important measures for maintaining stable operation. Common causes of motor faults should be identified and corresponding corrective measures should be implemented. Timely maintenance can prevent equipment damage and ensure safe, stable and long-term production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following sections introduce the explosion-proof principles, operating characteristics, model selection and maintenance requirements of explosion-proof motors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To further expand the market and increase market share, high-performance flameproof three-phase asynchronous motors have been developed. Their flameproof enclosures are capable of withstanding the pressure generated by an explosion of a flammable gas mixture inside the motor without being damaged. The enclosure also prevents flames and hot gases produced by an internal explosion from passing through the flameproof joints to the outside of the motor, thereby preventing the ignition of explosive gas or vapour mixtures in the surrounding environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types and Operating Principles of Explosion-Proof Motors<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hazardous environments can generally be divided into explosive gas atmospheres, combustible dust atmospheres and fire-hazardous environments. Common explosion-protection methods for motors include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Flameproof motors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased-safety motors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dust explosion-proof motors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pressurized motors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Flameproof Motors<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The enclosure of a flameproof motor is designed to withstand an explosion of an explosive mixture inside the motor without suffering structural damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, the enclosure prevents an internal explosion from igniting an explosive mixture outside the motor through enclosure joints, gaps or structural openings. This protection method contains the explosion within the motor enclosure and prevents flames or hot gases from spreading into the surrounding hazardous atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Increased-Safety Motors<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under normal operating conditions, an increased-safety motor does not produce flames, electric arcs, sparks or dangerously high surface temperatures that could ignite an explosive gas mixture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The enclosure protecting insulated live components should generally provide a protection rating of at least IP44, while the enclosure protecting exposed live components should provide a protection rating of at least IP54. These protective measures are intended to prevent ignition under normal operating conditions and specified overload conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Pressurized Motors<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A pressurized motor is filled with clean air or an inert gas at a pressure higher than the surrounding atmosphere. This positive internal pressure prevents explosive gas mixtures from entering the motor enclosure, thereby ensuring safe operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The enclosure should generally provide a protection rating of at least IP44. The pressure of the ventilation air or protective gas inside the enclosure should normally be maintained at no less than 196 Pa above the surrounding atmospheric pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selection Criteria for Explosion-Proof Motors<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Explosion-proof motors should be selected according to the specific conditions of the hazardous area, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The type and classification of the hazardous location;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The zone or division of the installation area;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The gas group of the explosive mixture present in the environment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The required temperature class;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The presence and characteristics of combustible dust or fibres;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fire-hazard classification of the operating area;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The required motor power, determined according to the operating conditions and load characteristics;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The motor speed and drive type, selected according to the transmission ratio and mechanical requirements of the driven equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Correct motor selection, installation and maintenance are essential for ensuring safe operation, improving equipment reliability and extending the service life of explosion-proof motors.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In recent years, with the development of the machinery manufacturing industry and increasingly stringent workplace safety requirements, industry standards for explosion-proof motors have continued to rise.
